Hi everyone, if you have been following my blog recently you will have known that I haven’t posted for about three weeks. Crazy right!?!? Sorry to disappoint, but I would say I have a valid reason to do so. SENIOR YEAR HAS STARTED. It has been going by fast, and now that I am settled in I plan to start posting more frequently, as I am now on a (forced) schedule. My main reason for writing this blog post today is because of something I am not too proud of….. PROCRASTINATION. So the subject that I am procrastinating today is College Physics 🙂

Financial Samurai

So as I was procrastinating today I went to my favorite personal finance blog, Financial Samurai. If you have never heard of it before, go check it out! The owner, Sam, writes fantastic in-depth articles that are always very informative and fun to read! Sam’s blog is what really got me interested in creating passive income and a blog. He covers a wide range of topics, from “Debt”, to “Entrepreneurship”, to “Investing”, to “Real Estate” and much more. Now I am not getting paid to advertise for Sam (I wish…), but instead am just giving you the best suggestion I possibly can. GO READ HIS ARTICLES.

Real Estate Versus Blogging….

This is the title of the article I read today, but don’t be fooled. As I have been reading through his site and many others, it is always suggested to try to invest at least a portion of your money in Real Estate. But if you are smart and/or having read some of my previous posts, you will know that I don’t have a large amount of capital to work with right now…. So as the title says Real Estate Versus Blogging, I was more focused on the blogging part. As a new blogger, I am always excited to read new articles on blogs, and try to find out more information in order to create a successful one. Sam brings up things such as “Ease to Start”, “Profitability”, “Sustainability”, and “Ease of Maintenance”. The whole article had been going great so far, until I came upon a section titled “Joy”. It was a section that explained the joys of blogging, and how great it feels to put your thoughts into words. But then I came to the end of the section, and there in bold letters were the words “Key Realization“.

The Realization

“The reason why both real estate and blogging score so highly in Joy is because both are entrepreneurial endeavors where you are your own boss. You are the king of your castle and CEO of your business. Being your own boss feels so much better than having to report to someone!” -Financial Samurai

These the words straight from his “Key Realization”, copy pasted and everything. It had not really been a huge concern to me, since I am so young and sometimes would rather not think about the future, but I would LOVE to be my own boss. My most proficient memory from second grade was not recess or gym, but was when we had to write down what we wanted to be when we were older. My teacher was Mrs. Olson (still my favorite teacher to this date), and she told us “to think long and hard” about it. So I went home and thought for a long time, and I don’t know what made me think of it, but I wanted to run my own business and be my own boss. Crazy right? Those kind of aspirations from a second grader? I was obviously a brighter kid then than I am now…

So I arrived at school the next day, and as we started to go over our homework I started to see a trend. Many of the jobs named were people we see everyday and learn about at a young age. Things such as a “Fireman”, or a “Nurse” were what people wanted to be. Now don’t get me wrong, I have NOTHING wrong with these jobs, I am just using them to show how differently I was thinking than everyone else.

When it was my turn to share, I had some troubles. Everyone had said the job title which is only a few words long, while I was sitting there with a whole idea of what I wanted to be. So as a young boy not wanting to be different, what did I end up saying?

“Pro Basketball Player….. Pretty basic right?

But once we were given free time, I took out that paper once again and showed it to Mrs. Olson. She immediately gave me a job title that fit exactly with all my aspirations, “Entrepreneur”. Now believe me, as a second grader, I could never spell it right. I mean NEVER. Some days it started with an A, others with an E. But the important thing was that I finally had a name for what I wanted to be.

The Future

Pretty crazy story from second grade right? I might not have remembered that story a few days ago, but once again once I read…:

“The reason why both real estate and blogging score so highly in Joy is because both are entrepreneurial endeavors where you are your own boss. You are the king of your castle and CEO of your business. Being your own boss feels so much better than having to report to someone!” – Financial Samurai

….. I had that entrepreneurial spirit refueled in myself. The appeal of being your own boss was once again something I had lost sight of. Once again, I have the drive of this so called “luxury”, and would love to be the “king of my businesses castle”. I am very glad to have started blogging, as it is my experience as an entrepreneur while only being a teen. If this blog doesn’t work out, in the end I will still have more writing and business experience than before, and for that I have to thank the Financial Samurai.

Thank you everyone for reading! I know it was a long post but I thought I owed you guys something for not having posted in FOREVER! Now off to go do some Physics…..
